Getting back on track

It's been quite some time since I've posted any updates...though I've continued to struggle with the ups and downs of weight loss. I am really glad that when I logged on today, with the intent of catching up on my blog, I found that I am 8.9 lbs lighter than the last time I visited this site. In fact, I am 48.5lbs lighter than I was at my heaviest which was 324! I've started a following a new plan. It is a lot the same as weight watchers but I feel like for me it will be easier to adapt to my everyday living. The new plan is Slimming World. This plan is in Europe what Weight Watchers is in America. And, esentially what all overweight people already know...eat more fruits and veggies...lean meat and move more. It all sounds really good in theory but any of us who are overweight know that knowing what to do is only 1/2 of the battle. So I've been following this plan for about 3 weeks. I weighed in on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 275.5. I am still morbidly obese. There are several things that I know have to happen for me to get this weight off and the most important is movement. I have been working in some walking time at work. Just a short walk instead of taking a lunch I will walk around the building a couple of times, walk up the stairs to the 3rd floor and just get my blood pumping. I feel like I really need to get off another 25lbs ASAP. I've started having some hip and knee pain and I know that it is associated with the weight. Though I have continued to go up and down on the scale I know that each year it gets a little harder to carry all of this extra weight around. So I needed a kick start...I finally agreed to join my dear friend Tanya Stone at Slimming World. I am so thankful for her continuing to invite me until the time was right for me. I also purchased a spin bike for my husbands birthday gift. (Don't tell him but I knew it would be a good investment and we could both benefit from the exercise)... a little side story on the spin bike. So, I ordered the bike from WalMart, mostly because it was a great price. It also had a higher weight limit than most. First, they said it wouldn't arrive until Jan 23, then they shipped it and said it would be here by the 21st! Yea...that was his birthday...So the bike arrives he picks it up and we begin a family assembly project. 1st foul...a part of the frame was bent...so Eric takes a hammer to it to make the other pieces fit together correctly.... 2nd foul...Eric, being the manly man that he is tightens one of the bolts a little to tight...and bing breaks it off! 3rd foul, one of stabalizer bars that goes on the back is mounted backwards (oops) in taking the bolt of the cap? breaks...have no idea how he did that one...lol. Sooo now we wait. We sent in a request for the replacement parts and they should arrive later this week. I have ordered Eric a pair of biking shorts and a spin class DVD. I have also joined a group at work in a "Biggest Loser Challenge" that will last for the next 12 weeks for a little added motivation. Until next time...remember this... Psalm 20:4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
